Joe Judge is staying with the Patriots. And it sounds like he will have a nebulous new role that makes Dwight K. Schrute proud. One difference b/w Patricia in '21 and Judge in '23, just to illustrate it—Patricia's name was on player contracts back then, and this year, Matt Groh's name is in that spot. … Continued
One of my favorite movie quotes of all time is from Van Wilder. You know the one, when Van’s dad says, “Sometimes in life, you have to realize a poor investment and cut your losses. Write that down.” The Yankees have either never watched that movie, or they haven’t seen it in a long time. … Continued

The absence of Edwin Diaz in the Mets’ bullpen is a void the team probably won’t be able to fill until he eventually returns. And while everyone’s first thought is for general manager Billy Eppler to go out and make a deal, there’s no rush. Not having the best closer in baseball is not an … Continued

If there’s one current player who draws the most ire from the Mets fan base, it’s definitely designated hitter/first baseman Darin Ruf. And sure, his performance hasn’t been great. This is not a soliloquy about how the Big East is restoring itself to glory or returning to its roots. I’m not going to say anything like “The Big East is back!” If you want a history lesson about the conference, go watch ESPN’s 30 for 30 on it. Forget the history and lore for … Continued

Spring training games technically don’t count. But that doesn’t mean players don’t get frustrated when things aren’t going their way. Just ask Mets designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach about that. In fact, we don’t have to. We can just listen to this glorious hot mic moment on repeat instead: "I can't buy a fucking hit" -Daniel … Continued
Before the Mets took the field on Wednesday to face the Houston Astros, some roster moves were made. Yankees top prospect Anthony Volpe has looked terrific throughout spring training. So good, in fact, that despite only playing a handful of games above Double-A, he’s convinced at least one teammate he’s ready for the big leagues. But once the 21-year-old finally lands in the Bronx, can he stick at shortstop? One American League scout … Continued
Watching Mets and Yankees games during the regular season has typically been pretty easy. It’s gotten even easier over the past couple of years with SNY and YES providing streaming options. The Cincinnati Reds are too much of a laughingstock despite being one of MLB’s most storied franchises. The last World Series appearance (and … Continued
Mike Francesa thinks the Anthony Volpe situation is straightforward. If the star shortstop prospect is ready, he makes the team. And if the New Jersey native ready, the Yankees play him.
