The Jets’ faith in Mekhi Becton has not wavered. General manager Joe Douglas expressed support for the embattled left tackle yet again Tuesday during an appearance on WFAN. Douglas expressed optimism Becton will be ready for training camp and told midday hosts Tiki Barber and Brandon Tierney that Becton is in “a good place right … Continued
Aaron Judge’s long-term future is on the backburner for now. But the Yankees are going to have to grapple with his impending free agency sooner rather than later, and it appears possible he could walk this winter. Mike Francesa will not lose sleep if that happens. The WFAN legend does not believe it is imperative … Continued
Eventually Joe Schoen’s Giants will need play games. And those are unlikely to go well, at least in the beginning. That said, the general manager continues to build equity to help weather those anticipated storms. The Schoen lovefest rolled on Monday when he fired two front office holdovers from the Dave Gettleman era. Director of … Continued
Robinson Cano has been let go by the Mets. It wasn’t supposed to be this way. Cano’s Yankees debut in 2005 was for two reasons: part service time manipulation and part Tony Womack wasn’t working out at second base. Five years and a World Series ring later, fans were already crowning him as a future … Continued
The New York Yankees don’t need major changes at the moment, but they need to trade for a starting catcher.
The Mets actually did it. Robinson Cano has been designated for assignment. It’s a move that may signal the end of his career. Cano was batting .195 this season with a home run and three RBI. He had barely played in recent days, only starting one of the last five games. The move comes ahead … Continued
The big personality. The flash. The ability to wreck games. Mike Francesa sees what is coming with Kayvon Thibodeaux. And he isn’t thrilled about it. This draft was highly crucial for the Jets. GM Joe Douglas responded by crushing it.
Joe Schoen took a big step toward making the Giants competitive again.
After nine wins in a row, the pressure is on for the Yankees when they pay a visit to the Blue Jays in Toronto. The Yankees have the best record in baseball, a 1.5-game lead over the Jays in the American League East, and, best of all, they’re fully vaccinated. No more worries about if … Continued
The meme of the century has made its way to Queens.
The New York Mets own the best record in baseball and on Friday night, they let us all know it. Or, should I say, no-hit? The Mets did indeed throw a combined no-hitter against the Phillies, with Pete Alonso’s solo home run a guest star. Tylor Megill carried the load for the Mets through five … Continued
Mike Francesa would like to handwave Roger Goodell. The WFAN legend mocked the NFL commissioner for his emcee efforts while opening the 2022 NFL Draft on Thursday. Francesa called Goodell’s schtick “so played out and so lame” and “sadly comical” during his latest BetRivers podcast, declaring it a “clown act.” Francesa hammered Goodell for awkwardly calling … Continued
Although the New York Jets weren’t able to land Deebo Samuel, it wasn’t for a lack of trying on their part.
We have reached the inevitable point of the name, image and likeness era where all the quiet parts have been said — no, screamed — out loud in the form of some no-holds-barred, free-market hardball. Isaiah Wong was the second-leading scorer on Miami’s Elite Eight team this past season. He has a deal with mega-booster … Continued
Stephen A. Smith is still hammering Kyrie Irving. ESPN’s chief bloviator crushed the mercurial Nets star for his recent flurry of tweets attacking the media on Friday’s First Take. Smith said he plans to combat Irving’s narratives vigorously moving forward, like some sort of public hot take service. “We are witnessing one of the most … Continued
The Yankees are winning the games they are supposed to win. Which is easier said than done. Sweeping the Guardians last weekend was just the start. The Yankees have plenty of momentum now after brooking the lowly Orioles thanks to strong pitching, timely hitting, and a three-home run game from Anthony Rizzo just for fun. … Continued
This is the biggest NFL Draft around here in a long time. Probably ever. And the Giants and Jets rose to the occasion. As strange as it feels to write this, given how poorly managed both teams have been for the last decade or so, they seized the opportunity in Thursday’s first round. Four smart … Continued

The belief was Jets general manager Joe Douglas preferred pass rushers to defensive backs. If so, he must really love Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner. Douglas snagged the Cincinnati cornerback with the No. 4 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft on Thursday night. It’s a move that makes plenty of football sense, but is not necessarily a … Continued

Who is Big Blue drafting in our new Giants-only 7-round mock?
The bulk of the local NFL Draft focus is on the Giants‘ plans. But the Jets have more pressure riding as they attack their own pair of top-10 picks. General manager Joe Douglas believes he has his quarterback and a roster that, on paper, is closer to being playoff-caliber. If Zach Wilson makes significant strides … Continued
Cardinals manager Oli Marmol had this to say following his team’s bench-clearing brawl with the Mets Wednesday.
Stubby Clapp should be thankful Pete Alonso showed restraint. Alonso was in the thick of the Mets-Cardinals bench-clearing incident, mere hours after he was plunked in the head. Clapp, the Cardinals’ first base coach, was ejected after he threw Alonso to the ground during the mild skirmish. “I got pulled from behind,” Alonso told reporters … Continued
Buck Showalter was salty — as you would expect — after the Mets‘ getaway game. The Amazins lost to the Cardinals, 10-5. JD Davis left the game after becoming the latest Met to be hit by a pitch. Everyone knows Anthony Rizzo was born to be a Yankee. He’s been a great fit for the team ever since being acquired from the Cubs last summer. Even better, Rizzo re-signed with the team he rooted for as a child, inking a two-year, $32 million deal in free agency. It’s proven a great signing for … Continued
Mike Francesa never forgets. The WFAN legend brought much more than a peashooter on his latest BetRivers podcast. Francesa torched former Giants general manager Dave Gettleman out of the (relative) blue while chatting about the NFL draft with Sports Illustrated reporter Albert Breer, alleging Gettleman blackballed him from access to the team during his disastrous … Continued
The Yankees doth protest too much. SNY’s Andy Martino has obtained the soon-to-be-unsealed MLB sign-stealing letter. And based on his reporting, it’s hard to understand why the Yankees wasted so much time and energy — and probably spent a decent left-handed bat’s worth of money on attorneys — fighting to keep the correspondence under wraps. … Continued
Going away to college is a transformative experience. For many, it’s a four-year period where we transition from kids to adults. JR Smith skipped college to go straight to the NBA. The NBA champion is getting his college experience a bit later than most Americans, but he’s making the most of it. The former New … Continued
