New York Yankees sluggers Gio Urshela and Luke Voit singlehandedly lift the Bombers past Zack Wheeler and the Mets in the fourth inning.
Gio continues his torrid 2019 batting and Luke hits one to Parsippany. The New York Yankees fourth inning in Game 1 of the 2019 Subway Series immediately turned the game from a Mets tidy lead into a Bombers stranglehold.
First, Gio Urshela took an 0-1 Zack Wheeler fastball to the left-field stands.

Later, with the game tied, Luke Voit forced Wheeler to immediately shove that head towards the ground in disgust. His three-run shot that landed on the roof of the TGI Friday’s on Rt. 46 in Parsippany gave the Bombers a 7-4 lead.

The Yankees currently lead 9-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Wheeler exited in the fifth having allowed nine runs (six earned) on 10 hits and a walk. He struck out six in 4.2 official innings pitched.
Masahiro Tanaka, who took the opening ball from Aaron Boone, has relented four runs on six hits and no walks while striking out six in six innings. He awaits the end of the sixth inning to see if he’ll get the seventh.
Jeff McNeil hit a homer in the third inning, a three-run shot, for his third of the campaign.
Voit is currently 1-for-4 with those three runs batted in. Urshela is a cool 2-for-3 with two runs and three runs produced. Kendrys Morales leads all batters with three hits.
