The New York Yankees have released information regarding the injuries to Jacoby Ellsbury and Starlin Castro.
After leaving Saturday afternoon’s contest with the Boston Red Sox with injuries, the New York Yankees give some bad news regarding two starters.
According to the PR Department, second baseman Starlin Castro and center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury were both sent to New York to meet with team physician Christopher Ahmed.
Castro suffered a Grade-1 hamstring strain while Ellsbury is diagnosed with a right knee bone bruise and is listed as day-to-day.
Although this isn’t the worst news in the world, Castro will likely miss some time while Ellsbury could be back in action as soon as this week.
Both are expected to be with the team on Tuesday in Tampa after being treated at Yankee Stadium on Sunday and Monday.
Mason Williams is listed as the starting center fielder while Donavan Solano was called up to play second base on Sunday night baseball against Boston.
Solano is 28-years old with 361 games of major league experience under his belt. He slashed .319/.349/.436 with a .785 OPS in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.
