The New York Yankees Hosting The Twins; Flashbacks, Anyone?

Monday, May 18 – NYY: 7 MIN: 6

It was not a walk-off, but the Yankees swept the Twins out of Yankee Stadium. A six-run first inning highlighted by A-Rod’s third home run of the weekend, going back-to-back with Teixeira, lifted the team to an eventual victory.

The Yankee first baseman came through once again later on, blasting a solo shot in the seventh inning to provide insurance. The bullpen staved off the Minnesota bats en route to a 7-6 win.

The sweep followed two wins over the Blue Jays and preceded a three-game sweep of the Orioles, making it nine in a row for the Yanks.

The weekend feat contributed to 17 walk-off wins on the season, including two in the postseason. A.J. Burnett was continually supplying the pie, but not in a obligatory fashion whatsoever.

A new ballpark, a new look, a new team. Everything clicked. The 2009 New York Yankees simply had a dream season.
