Monday was a good day in the land of the New York Mets as one of their new acquisitions, Neil Walker, showed why he was traded for.

Neil Walker, Lucas Duda, Bartolo Colon, and Steven Matz – all four of these guys were extremely efficient today for the New York Mets.

Walker, who was brought to the team by way of trade with the Pittsburgh Pirates, cranked his first home run of the spring, and as a Met, against the Detroit Tigers.

Lucas Duda also homered in this 7-3 Mets victory over Detroit.

In the other contest of the split-squad day, young Steven Matz pitched well through two innings, picking up three strikeouts along the way. New York wound up committing four errors and losing by a final of 9-4 to the St. Louis Cardinals.
