New Jersey Devils Free Agency: Devs Snag Lovejoy, Fiddler

New Jersey Devils general manager Ray Shero has his fanbase excited as ever with the acquisition of young stud Taylor Hall.

Friday, July 1st:

The Devils have been one of the more active clubs this afternoon. Andrew Gross first reported that Ben Lovejoy has signed a three year contract with New Jersey.

The news didn’t stop there, as Vern Fiddler was signed to a one year/1.25M contract.

Thursday, Jun. 30:

The front is extremely quiet about who the Devils will target in free agency. Possible suggestions include Kyle Okposo, David Schlemko and Jason Demers.

One day you’re a fan of the New Jersey Devils quietly awaiting the beginning of free agency, and the next you’re absurdly excited.

The reason?

Well, because Ray Shero, your general manager, fleeced the Edmonton Oilers for one of the better young forwards in NHL.

Taylor Hall is now a Devil and anticipation for Devils hockey hasn’t been quite this high in quite some time. Tough to see a homegrown player in Adam Larsson go, but hey, sometimes the return is just flat-out better.

What Shero will do to back up this tremendous move is just around the corner thanks to the opening of NHL Free Agency.
