New York Mets: Wilmer Flores Breaks Tie With 391-foot Opposite Field Homer (Video)

In San Francisco on Saturday night, New York Mets infielder Wilmer Flores got the party started with a monster home run.

The first three innings of Saturday’s game between New York Mets and San Francisco Giants saw brilliant pitching from Johnny Cueto and Jacob deGrom.

However, Wilmer Flores ended that with an opposite field solo shot, that ended New York’s hitless start to the game.

An 84 mph changeup from Cueto was quickly deposited over the left field wall, and the Mets took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning.

After a hot start to the season, Flores had been struggling. However, his seventh homer of the season was a thing of beauty, and New York has now hit a home run in four straight games.

In wake of all the trade rumors surrounding the Mets, it appears as if the players have simply been ignoring all of it, and have left everything on the field.

The two NL squads have both underperformed this season, and this series can make or break their seasons.
