What’s a four-run deficit to the New York Yankees?

Nothing.

Down 4-0 entering the eighth inning, the Bronx Bombers tallied three in the eighth and two in the ninth to knock off the Oakland Athletics, 5-4.

The walk-off shot came courtesy of a Mike Ford blast.

Ford’s walk-off shot in the ninth came in pinch-hit form, in Clint Frazier’s spot in the lineup.

Entering the eighth, down four, Gleyber Torres put the team on the board thanks to a sac-fly. With two outs, Didi Gregorius plated two with a clutch base knock of his own.

A Brett Gardner solo home run in the ninth to tie the game set the stage for Ford’s heroics.

DJ LeMahieu paced New York with two of the team’s six total hits. On the bump, J.A. Happ took the opening ball from Aaron Boone and pitched brilliantly. His final line of no runs on one hit and four walks while striking out five A’s in six innings was eventually spoiled by a rough outing by Ryan Dull.

Adam Ottavino, who pitched a clean ninth inning, picked up his sixth victory of the campaign.

Now, with 90 wins on the season, the Yankees welcome in the Texas Rangers for a three-game slate. A Monday afternoon Labor Day game is slated for 1:05 p.m. ET from the Bronx.
