New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone gives an update on first baseman Luke Voit, who heads to the 10-day injured list with a sports hernia.

This week, the New York Yankees placed first baseman Luke Voit on the 10-day injured list with a sports hernia. Voit will now spend time recovering as the Yankees try to continue their mostly-victorious summer.

However, it may not just be 10 days out of the lineup for Voit. According to Yankees skipper Aaron Boone, the timetable could be longer than that.

Boone stated that “it’s one of those things where it could be treated in a day-to-day scenario or it could turn into a surgery situation which could be more of a six week-type thing.”

As far as the decision on what the next steps will be for Voit, Boone added that it’ll “be probably determined over the next 24-48 hours.”

Thus far in 2019, Voit has hit 19 home runs and 54 RBIs. He’s currently posting a .278/.392/.493 slash line through 94 games this year.

The Yankees are in a great spot right now as the summer months continue. They’re currently 29 games above .500 with a record of 68-39. They’re additionally sitting atop the AL East division by 8.0 games over the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Bombers just split a two-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks. It was the first two of a six-game homestand for them, which also includes a four-game series against the Redsox.

After this homestand, the Yanks will embark on a seven-game road trip, which includes three games against the Orioles and four against the Blue Jays.
