When Edwin Encarnacion hit his 30th home run of the year, the rest of his New York Yankees teammates had a surprise for him.

When the New York Yankees acquired Edwin Encarnacion, fans immediately rallied around the nickname “The Parrot Man”. Why? Well, that’s because every time Encarnacion homers, he lifts his arm while rounding the bases as a perch for his imaginary parrot.

That parrot isn’t imaginary anymore…

According to Coley Harvey of ESPN, Gio Urshela purchased the parrot for Encarnacion. He and Gleyber Torres were giggling up a storm in the clubhouse waiting for the perfect moment to gift the stuffed mascot to the Parrot Man.

And as it turns out, Encarnacion is already the best-stuffed parrot dad in the world.

I mean just look at the massive professional slugger with his new son! He even buckled his seatbelt for him on the team plane. A savage in the box but a gentle giant off the field.

The moral of the story is that the 2019 Yankees are one of the most tight-knit clubs we’ve seen in a while. In-season acquisition Gio Urshela went out of his way to buy a hilarious gift for fellow in-season acquisition Edwin Encarnacion. That kind of chemistry is what championship teams are made of.

The young team is winning a lot of games and having a lot of fun doing it. They’ve got the “savages” label, the mysterious four-finger celebration, and now a colorful mascot.

They also have the best record in Major League Baseball.

It would be foolish to pick anyone else as this year’s World Series favorites. I’ll be preordering my World Series champions DVD tonight.
