New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner was a big fan of the rant Aaron Boone went on that got him ejected on Thursday.

On Thursday, in the New York Yankees first game of a doubleheader against the Rays, umpire Brennan Miller was having a tough time getting the right call early on. Well, according to Aaron Boone and the Yanks.

After constantly shouting from the dugout, saying that Miller needed to “tighten it up,” Boone was ultimately tossed in the second inning. Hot mics caught the altercation and the video went viral. This all led to a one-game suspension for the Bombers manager.

Yankee fans universally love the video. Actually, there’s probably no one who dislikes the video except for Miller himself.

Even Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner had some praise for Boone when speaking to Joel Sherman of the New York Post regarding the video.

“It shows that he is one with his players,” Steinbrenner said. “He is there with them and for them, step by step throughout this season. As any good leader would, and should, be. Aaron is a good leader.”

The Yankees won both doubleheader games against the Rays on Thursday. They won that specific game 6-2 and then the later game 5-1. They now find themselves at eight games atop the AL East division with a record of 62-33.

New York will host the Colorado Rockies for a three-game series at Yankee Stadium before embarking on a seven-game road trip that includes three against the Minnesota Twins and four against the Boston Red Sox.
