Michael Jordan, Will Smith, Billy Hoyle and more battle on “The Blacktop,” a graphic by Wright Artist that’ll live in hoops heaven forever.
Sometimes, a basketball fan pulls off a feat so magnificent it puts a halt to the hoops world. With the Kevin Durant Achilles injury news of Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals placing a depressing cloud over the NBA, hoops fans (New York Knicks fans, especially) needed something, anything to get by.
Forget “something, or anything.” What the basketball world received instead was one of the most impressive pieces of artistry in the history of the game.
Wright Artist, on Twitter as @thewrightar, created “The Blacktop,” a piece filled with the greatest hoops entertainment figures of all-time.

On what looks to be Rucker Park, some of the most recognizable ballers from television and film history are having themselves a time.
Of course, Bow-Wow (Like Mike) is the kid dunking all over the duo of Will Ferrell and Andre 3000 (Semi-Pro). Will Smith (“The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”) is looking on, as is Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes (Billy Hoyle and Sidney Deane from the classic White Men Can’t Jump).
Space Jam, Teen Wolf, Basketball Diaries, He Got Game, and, of course, Above the Rim all make appearances as well. It can be argued Tupac on the sideline completes this masterpiece.
Perhaps the only issue concerning the near flawless graphic is the fact the greatest sports movie of all-time is curiously absent. Jimmy Chitwood and Hoosiers is a complete no-show. But hey, there can be no criticism for such a brilliant job well done.
We also provide a nice tip of the cap for not using Will Smith’s Fresh Prince Bel-Air home court as the backdrop. Due to the laughable size, a mere quarter of the entire tally of figures would find their way into the mix.
