The great Mike Francesa of WFAN takes the lack of self-awareness to an entirely new level when he invents Daily Fantasy Baseball in 2018.
It’s simply too good to be true.
On Tuesday, WFAN’s Mike Francesa literally invented Daily Fantasy Baseball.
With legalized sports betting upon us, Mike Francesa came up with a terrific idea today. It seems that Big Mike has invented daily fantasy sports. pic.twitter.com/Qlwm3ACbYA

“If the states are smart, they’ll take people who really understand this and let them create games that would attract people,” he said. “If I created a game that plays into your football or basketball or baseball expertise, and you could, for $20 or $50 in total, and you have a chance to win big money depending on how you play it, that will be an exciting play for you.”
He continued: “I think you can create something where the payoffs are not a-dollar-and-a-dream like the lottery, where the odds are you’ve got a better chance of getting hit by lightning. But that if you have a skill — I could create 10 games in 15 minutes if you gave me 15 minutes to do it. And those games, if created properly, will be very enticing to the public.”
For those unfamiliar with the Sports Pope, these quotes may come as a total shock. How could one person come equipped with absolutely no self-awareness?
Remember, this is a man who’s previously discussed fantasy sports and, specifically, Daily Fantasy Sports on the airwaves. He’s never wavered in his stance that it’s a terrible gamble and has gone as far as to blast the entire system due to “insider knowledge” among the employees at DraftKings and Fanduel—especially during those hot weeks it became national news.
For those who are well-aware of the act, this is simply a run-of-the-mill moment. Shall anybody question his invention that’s been running for quite some time, he’ll deflect or state his game is different.
Just give him 15 minutes, folks. Once done, the world shall be a greater place for all involved.
