New York Mets fan makes play of the game from the stands (Video)

In a game in which nothing happened against the lowly Orioles, one New York Mets fan came up with the play of the day while from the stands.

Folks, we have reached the worst of the worst.

After the New York Mets fell to the lowly Baltimore Orioles 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon, the numbers are staggering. Mickey Callaway’s losing streak is now at six as his team has lost seven of its last eight and 13 of its last 16 contests.

Things have turned so bad that the fans are making the play of the game, as evidenced on Wednesday afternoon at Citi Field.

As you can see from the video above, one Mets fan (possibly loaded) came up with a falling-back dandy along the first-base line (video above).

New York’s offense came up with a grand total of five hits on the day. No one batter collected two hits while the starting pitcher, Zack Wheeler, was one of the five.

Speaking of Wheeler, the Orioles 1-0 win wasted a spectacular outing from the righty who’s seemed to right the ship as of late. He relented no runs on three hits while striking out five in seven excellent innings pitched.

The culprit from a pitching standpoint was Jeurys Familia who gave up the game-winning run, leading to his third loss of the campaign.

Now five games under .500 with a 27-32 record, the Mets have hit rock bottom. They’ll rest on Thursday prior to getting back at it on Friday with Jacob deGrom on the mound for the first leg of the Subway Series.
