Three games into spring training and the New York Yankees are already on fire! That will only be helped by the addition of their special advisors, as announced Sunday.

As the New York Yankees were handily defeating the Philadelphia Phillies in their third game of the spring, their special advisors were announced.

Once again, former Yankees reign supreme and this year’s crop is an excellent group. Alex Rodriguez will be back in the Bronx, helping this crew of young stars get more comfortable in the spotlight.

Joining him are Reggie Jackson, Nick Swisher and 2009 World Series MVP Hideki Matsui, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

Swisher has already taken in some spring training practices with the team and has expressed his infectious enthusiasm for being back with the Bombers in some capacity, as reported by Brendan Kuty of NJ.com.

Now let’s discuss some on-field action from Sunday. In a battle against the Phillies, Jordan Montgomery took the mound in the start and looked…well, nothing like a kid fighting for a spot in the rotation.

Monty put together a pretty stellar performance, despite only pitching in two innings. Well, that’s spring training for you!

In an 8-3 victory, the offense was also on point. One of the guys who got things going was Gleyber Torres, baseball’s current No. 5 prospect in all of baseball. He went 1-for-3 with one hit (a double) and one run scored.

Aaron Hicks served as the DH on Sunday afternoon and picked up right where he left off last season: looking stellar at the plate.

Hicks went 2-for-3 on the afternoon and is gunning for some more recognition this season.

With three games down, the best is yet to come for this Yankees’ squad. Just think about it! They are already 3-0 and we have yet to even see Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge take the field. Oh, and we’ve yet to see the heart of that bullpen take the mound.

Guys, this is going to be fun. This evening, the Yankees will take on the Phillies once again, this time in Tampa.
