New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. compared himself to New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and wants to be like him.

We have all heard the expression “Be like Mike.” Well now New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. wants to be like New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

Last Sunday, Brady was caught on camera yelling at Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels during a game against the Buffalo Bills.

Beckham didn’t like that Brady wasn’t criticized for his actions and said he is a victim of a double standard because he always gets criticized and Brady doesn’t, according to Justin Terranova of the New York Post.

That led Sean Lyric to tweet, “It’s “passion” bro. Imagine if @OBJ_3 showed some of this “passion” towards any of his coaches… Smh #DoubleStandard

OBJ responded by tweeting, “Listen when I say this is the craziest thing someone ever has tweeted or posted to me because I LITERALLY had this same conversation today about the EXACT thing ur takin about it. “There’s rules..and then there’s rules..”

He added, “I learned from him. This is the goat. So I’m following his lead, I just may not know how to express it the same way. But don’t get it confused , how 12 feels about the game , I would have a hard time sayin that’s not EXACTLY how I feel. #GoatChasin

The GOAT that he is talking about is Brady. The Giants receiver then posted a video on Instagram to show that they are similar.

I would agree that they are similar in that both have lots of passion and a love for the game of football. However that’s where the similarities end.

The Patriots quarterback has won five Super Bowls and four Super Bowl MVP Awards, is a two-time NFL MVP and has been elected to the Pro Bowl 12 times. He also has 11 Super Bowl records and numerous other NFL records.

OBJ hasn’t won a playoff game and had a touchdown and two dropped passes in the one playoff game that he’s played in. OBJ is also known for his antics on and off the field.

Last year before the Giants playoff game against the Green Bay Packers, he partied on a boat in Miami with some of his teammates. Then, in September, he pretended to be a dog and pee in the end zone after scoring a touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles. While Brady hasn’t had to resort to antics like that in his career, the quarterback did defend Beckham for partying in Miami.

“He’s a great young player and I love watching him,” Brady told NJ.com’s Dan Duggan about Beckham.

This season has been a disaster for the Giants. Eli Manning got benched, Ben McAdoo and Jerry Reese got fired and they have a 2-10 record.  However as the New York Daily News’ Pat Leonard points out, Beckham hasn’t commented on Manning, McAdoo or Reese.

Instead all he wants to talk about is himself. Odell might be trying to make the Giants season all about him, which it isn’t, meaning that he’s being selfish. And he wants to be like Tom Brady, who never put himself first before his team?

Odell you can GOAT chase all you want but you’ll never be like Brady because you’re nothing like him, no matter how similar you think the two of you are.
