Today’s Brooklyn Nets news features the release of the ‘Statement’ uniforms, and Timofey Mozgov playing for bronze in the Euro Basket tournament.

The NBA has moved on from the days of old, and is entering a new era of uniforms now sponsored by Nike. What were once ‘Home’ and ‘Away’ uniforms are now ‘Association’ and ‘Icon.’ Those two were released just over a month ago.

Friday evening, Nike and the NBA released their third uniform installment for each of the league’s 30 teams. Once called ‘Alternate’ uniforms, we got a first look at the new ‘Statement’ uniforms.

Brooklyn went with a smooth grey similar to last season’s alternate jerseys, embodying the spirit of the city with the letters ‘B K L Y N’ on the front.

Guard D’Angelo Russell was among the players selected to represent their teams at the official unveiling, held in Los Angeles.

It hasn’t been announced which game the uniforms will debut this season, so stick around for that.

One player from the Brooklyn Nets hasn’t tried on his new uniform yet, because he’s playing overseas. Center Timofey Mozgov and team Russia have fallen out of contention for the Euro Basket championship after dropping their second game of the season.

The team took a crushing loss on Friday to fellow NBA players Bogdan Bogdanovic and Boban Marjanovic of team Serbia. Despite Mozgov’s 11 points and 9 rebounds, Russia took an 87-79 loss in the Euro Basket Semi Finals.

Highlights from the loss.

Mozgov and Team Russia will play Spain for the Gold Medal on Sunday, at 17:00 GMT.
