New York Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner came up clutch in the Bronx on Friday night with a game-tying solo shot.

Friday night’s matchup in the Bronx between the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers turned out to be a flat out pitchers duel between Masahiro Tanaka and Yu Darvish.

With New York down by one in the bottom of the ninth, left fielder Brett Gardner launched a solo home run to tie the score all up at one and send the game into extra innings.

The solo shot couldn’t have come at a better time for a Yankees club who has been struggling as of late, which is mostly a result of poor bullpen appearances.

Gardner may have tied it with his dinger to right, but it still leaves the struggling bullpen to have to keep the score where it is to give the offense another chance to finish this one off.
