The Los Angeles Angels came to town and left winners of 1-of-3 games against the New York Mets. Also, David Wright’s most recent setback.

  • New York Mets 5 (18-24)
  • Los Angeles Angels 12 (23-23)
  • MLB, Final, Box Score
  • Citi Field, Flushing, Queens, New York

Mike Trout has now come and gone, as quickly as that. He didn’t conquer, however, to the fullest of his abilities.

The game’s best player brought his Los Angeles Angels to Queens and only managed to take the last game of a three-game set. On Sunday, the New York Mets lone loss since returning home on Friday, Trout took advantage of a poor Tommy Milone. He finished 2-for-3 with three runs batted in and his 14th home run of the season.

Milone was a disaster, only going 1.1 innings while surrendering eight runs on seven hits and two walks.

New York will take Monday off before welcoming in the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night, the first of a three-game set.
