New York Giants: Odell Beckham Jr. Gets Breakfast Club ‘Donkey Of The Day’

Odell Beckham Jr. adds another distinction to his hot-take trophy shelf; NYC Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club Donkey of the Day.

In 2015, MMQB’s Andy Benoit called Odell Beckham Jr. a “transcendent” superstar athlete. He was, and continues to be correct, but OBJ’s transcendence isn’t always a positive thing.

On Tuesday, he crossed the threshold of football and landed in the world of music- as Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God’s “Donkey of the Day.”

The distinction is reserved daily for politicians, athletes and entertainers who commit random acts of senselessness. Notable recipients include Cam Newton, Ryan Lochte, Bob Costas and Donald Trump.

Charlamagne ripped into Beckham Jr. (and his burst-fade) for continued temper tantrums, and made light of his losing battle with a kicking net against the Washington Redskins in Week 3.

He questions whether OBJ is having trouble dealing with fame, having received too much, too fast, in the media capital of the world. The shock jock always intends to do just that- shock and elicit response- but he had a few valid points.

One line in particular was equal parts truth and satire:

“You just need a simple attitude adjustment. That’s it. Simple and plain. your hair is more difficult to do than making an attitude adjustment.”

– Charlamagne tha god

Beckham Jr. has found a supporter in ex-HC Tom Coughlin, who has offered to help him “channel his emotions” on the field. That’s an opportunity OBJ and the Giants should take Coughlin up on. Winning football games again might also help.
