New York Yankees: The Greatest Moments Of Mariano Rivera’s Career

4. 2000 World Series

With the Yankees trying to secure a third straight World Series title, and permanent leverage over their crosstown rivals, Rivera took the mound at Shea Stadium trying to put the Subway Series in the record books.

Mike Piazza stepped up as the tying run as the Mets faced a two-run deficit. In a much-anticipated and closely watched battle, Mo induced a flyout to deep center which landed in the glove of Bernie Williams, who crouched to one knee as the Yankees secured their 26th world championship.

The save was his sixth of the postseason as he closed out the fourth championship of his career.

The Yankees had accomplished a three-peat, and Mariano was on the mound to finish all three of them.
