New York Yankees: The Greatest Moments Of Mariano Rivera’s Career

5. Save No. 500

Trying to reach an exclusive plateau, Mo was called upon for a four-out save in Flushing.

Handily recording the final out of the eighth, he was forced into an at-bat in the top half of the ninth. Facing closing counterpart Francisco Rodriguez, he fittingly drew a walk for his only career RBI.

Following the spectacle, he slammed the door on the Mets in typical Rivera fashion, giving them little to no hope of mounting a rally while breaking numerous bats in the process.

He jammed Alex Cora, who was the last man standing, with an inside cutter to force an easy groundout to second. With the final out, he became only the second man in baseball history reach the 500 save mark.
