New York Mets: Yoenis Cespedes Placed On 15 Day DL

The New York Mets continue to be snakebitten by injuries, losing star outfielder Yoenis Cespedes to the 15 day disabled list.

The New York Mets will place all star outfielder Yoenis Cespedes on the 15 day disabled list with a quadriceps injury. He had been hampered by the same injury for weeks, but was deemed healthy enough to hit.

Given that the Mets play their next two series in American League parks, the DH seemed plausible for Cespedes. After Wednesday night’s game, that has changed as Cespedes seemed to aggravate his quad.

Earlier today, manager Terry Collins exclaimed he had no issue with Cespedes playing golf. Now, it looks like Cespedes won’t be swinging a baseball bat or a golf club any time soon.

The news comes on the same day that Lucas Duda suffered a set back during his rehab assignment. Duda could very well miss the remainder of the season.

Looking at the opening day roster, the Mets are now without four starters, not counting Matt Harvey.
