This is why we love sports: 94 year olds reliving their glory days. Example “A” came during a South Carolina spring game.

Who says 90 year olds can’t play sports.

Even though he was a former South Carolina Gamecocks football star, 94-year old Lou Sossamon proved on the football field this weekend that age is just a number.

South Carolina held an alumni game on Saturday so Sossamon took part in it. He was the first South Carolina Gamecock to be named to an All-American team and proved why he was a former star when he took a handoff a few yards from the goal line and then followed his blockers into the end zone for a touchdown.

Sossamon was a linebacker and a center during his playing days so the fact that he played running back and scored, must have brought back some great memories.

It was very inspirational indeed as he gave all of us hope that you can still enjoy the game at whatever age you are.

It was truly a special sports moment.

Other than God, sports are my biggest love. My teams are the Mets, Knicks, NY Giants, NY Rangers and St Johns basketball (St. John's alumni). I especially love the Mets like crazy, more than any other team and seeing them win the World Series would be a dream come true and definitely the best sports moment. The Knicks are a close second. I also like to write, so combine that with my passion for sports equals a perfect scenario, I would love to do sports writing long term. If not that, then probably sports broadcasting, cause I love to talk sports as well. In addition to writing for ESNY, I'm also currently writing for Metsmerizedonline.
