Utility infielder Wilmer Flores continued his hot spring by going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored.
Backup catcher Kevin Plawecki provided the Mets with an early lead, thanks to an RBI single. Tigers pitcher Daniel Norris was chased after allowing one run over three hits in just two innings.
None of the big pitchers in the Mets starting rotation pitched in this one.
For Detroit it was J.D. Martinez and Mike Aviles who each homered in pacing the Tigers to nine runs on the day.
