New York Yankees

Although the New York Yankees dropped one to the Houston Astros today, the arms out of the pen did much to amp up the late inning excitement.

While certain big names like Jacoby Ellsbury, Alex Rodriguez, Brian McCann, and Mark Teixeira were all in the lineup today for the New York Yankees, it was Houston Astros starting pitcher Mike Fiers who came away with the news.

Fiers pitched two-innings of scoreless ball, only to give way to the rest of the Astros staff who made sure the shutout stood pat.

At the same time, some of the Yanks’ pitchers did the same thing.

Andrew Miller, Luis Severino and Michael Pineda were three guys who impressed.

Miller, pitching in his first outing of the spring, hurled a scoreless frame in the 6th-inning allowing just one hit and fanning a batter. Pineda received the start and lasted two scoreless frames, while Severino pitched the 3rd, 4th and 5th-innings while striking out two and allowing just two hits.

Dellin Betances was the only pitcher from either club to allow a run.
