The only serious roster adjustments remaining during the 2015 regular season are finally upon us. It is the expansion of the normal 25-man roster into the 40-man for September.
Every team receives this benefit. Whether you’re a contender for a playoff spot and looking for a little extra help on the bench, or simply playing out the string and want to give a few youngsters a look.
In the case of the New York Mets it’s the former: They’re contenders.
Sandy Alderson and company have already announced their first batch of September call-ups. Most are familiar faces. Players who previously disguised themselves as MLB hitters (until real reinforcements came in at the trade deadline).
Here’s the first batch of September call-ups:
- Kevin Plawecki, Catcher
- Eric Campbell, Utility
- Eric Young Jr., Outfielder
- Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Outfielder
They will all depart from Triple-A Las Vegas and join the big club on Tuesday.
