Surprisingly, instead of C.C. Sabathia receiving the nod against the Twins tonight, the New York Yankees will use Bryan Mitchell instead.

- Probables: Bryan Mitchell (0-1, 3.72 ERA) – Kyle Gibson (8-9, 3.75 ERA)

- Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York
In an unforeseen move Joe Girardi has named Bryan Mitchell, not the probable C.C. Sabathia as the New York Yankees starting pitcher for Monday night’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
Most thought it was due to the Yanks looking to push back the rotation a full day. Others now think Sabathia’s role in Toronto fight night club this past weekend.
Via TMZ:
He did admit fault, saying “it was a bad decision on my part,” via ESPN.
In any event, his team is coming off a very successful weekend taking two-of-three against the now second-place Toronto Blue Jays.
They return home, to the Bronx, for the first time since eight days ago when the Blue Jays were capping off a shellacking of the Bronx Bombers.
As previously mentioned it’ll be Mitchell taking the ball, opposing righty Kyle Gibson. Mitchell is still on the hunt for his first MLB win.

With New York only leading the division by 1/2 game, they can’t afford any slip-ups, especially against a team who has free-falled since the all-star break.
With Toronto idle, the Pinstripers can make the AL East lead a full game.
First pitch comes your way at 7:05 from the Bronx.
