New York Mets

The New York Mets came up a bit short at Citi Field tonight as they fell to the Pittsburgh Pirates by a count of 3-2 in extra innings.

  • Pittsburgh Pirates: 3 (67-46)
  • New York Mets: 2 (63-53)
  • Win: Arquimedes Caminero (3-1)
  • Loss: Bobby Parnell (1-2)
  • Save: Mark Melancon (36)

New York Mets reliever Bobby Parnell just got hammered.

Entering the 10th inning of a 1-1 game, Parnell came on in relief of Jeurys Familia and blew it up for his club giving up two runs, the first from a Gregory Polanco single.

Bartolo Colon was solid over seven innings of work. He allowed just one run and five hits while striking out seven.

Yoenis Cespedes hit is second home run as a Met in the sixth.

The teams will turn around and play Game 2 tomorrow night.
