Newly acquired Yoenis Cespedes hitting third tonight as his New York Mets will take on the first place Washington Nationals.
The whirlwind of a week that the New York Mets put themselves and their fans through is now finally over. Wilmer Flores and Zack Wheeler are still Mets, and Yoenis Cespedes, Juan Uribe, Kelly Johnson and Tyler Clippard are the newest additions.
The 2015 Mets route to October is now set.
Saturday night starts that journey with this set roster as Jacob deGrom (10-6, 2.05 ERA) will take on Washington Nationals starter Joe Ross (2-3, 3.03 ERA) at Citi Field.

The real story of the night will surround Cepedes. The newly acquired Mets power-hitter will wear No. 52, start in left-field and hit No. 3 in the lineup.

When asked what he knew about the #Mets before the deal. @ynscspds said the team’s strong pitching staff. pic.twitter.com/IM9EeatXfq

First pitch is slated for 7:10 PM ET in Flushing, NY. There’s no way this team can top the Flores-hero game from last night, right?
