Avid New York Mets fan Jerry Seinfeld knew how important MLB Trade Deadline day was for his team. That’s why he was fully attentive.

We remember all the scenes. The lighthearted moments on Seinfeld when the New York Mets were involved in the narrative.

There was the episode when Kramer encouraged Jerry to install illegal cable based on the fact that 80-plus Mets games were featured. There was also the pilot when Kramer ruined Jerry’s experience of watching a taped Mets game at 1 AM in the morning.

The Mets-Seinfeld connection is only natural considering Jerry Seinfeld himself is one of the biggest Mets fans around.

The New York native had made sure to keep a high profile surrounding the team. Whether it’s joining the fellas in the booth or simply speaking about his club, Seinfeld never shies away.

This is why Seinfeld knew exactly how important today was, MLB Trade Deadline day.

When it was confirmed that Sandy Alderson landed the power-hitting Yoenis Cespedes from the Detroit Tigers for two minor league pitchers, Jerry tweeted his excitement, to go along with a little Seinfeld nostalgia:

Of course we all remember the “Festivus” episode.

As a note, Jerry tweeted his correction on the name Cespedes a little later:

But that’s hardly the point. Neither is the fact that season’s 8 and 9 of Seinfeld were pretty sub-par without Larry David.

What matters here is that Mets fans will start to crop up even more thanks to Jerry Seinfeld and this train of positive momentum.
