New York Yankees back-up catcher Austin Romine plays hero with an Easter Sunday walk-off base hit against the Kansas City Royals.

Austin Romine joins the Easter Sunday baseball lore. His 10th-inning base knock over the outfielders propelled the New York Yankees to a big-time 7-6 victory in the Bronx on Sunday.

New York was sailing along, up 5-0, until the eighth inning. Chad Green and Adam Ottavino combined to give up six runs, blowing a once-tidy lead.
In the bottom of the eighth, that Romine dude put forth his first act of heroism on the day. It was his game-tying single that provided a Yankee answer after such a devastating top of the inning.
Southpaw James Paxton took the opening ball from Aaron Boone and didn’t disappoint. For the second consecutive outing, Big Maple was lights out. His final line of no runs on three hits while striking out 12 Royals in six innings has Yankees fans beaming bout the future.

Clint Frazier remained hot, smacking his sixth homer of the season in the fifth inning. The three-run moonshot put New York up 5-0 at that point.

Brett Gardner, who hit in the three-spot with the injuries mounting, finished 3-for-5 with a run scored. Mike Tauchman added two hits. The hero, Romine, finished with three hits and three runs batted in.
Tommy Kahnle, Aroldis Chapman and Zack Britton combined to give up no runs in an inning apiece.
For Kansas City, Alex Gordon and Hunter Dozer both hit home runs in that massive six-run eighth inning.
