New York Mets: Robert Gsellman Optioned To Triple-A, Seth Lugo Recalled

Following another rocky start from New York Mets starter Robert Gsellman this afternoon, the 24-year-old was sent down to Las Vegas. But does he even care?

According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, the New York Mets optioned Robert Gsellman to Triple A, and have called up Seth Lugo.

Gsellman has been optioned to Las Vegas for Lugo.

Less than two weeks ago, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson made it clear that Gsellman needed to pitch better. Instead of agreeing with him, Gsellman said that he didn’t care.

After apologizing to Alderson, Gsellman continued to struggle on Saturday, surrendering nine hits and six runs (two earned) over just four innings of work.

With Lugo healthy and ready to return to the Mets, Gsellman’s demotion was expected.

However, Gsellman will most likely return in September when rosters expand and will look to improve on what has already been a forgetful 2017 for him.
