Francisco Lindor New York Mets

The Mets have the third-best odds in MLB to make the playoffs.

On Tuesday, advanced baseball analysis site Fangraphs released their projected postseason odds for 2021.

The successful offseason that the New York Mets have had, headlined by Steve Cohen‘s purchase of the team, has been garnering the attention of the baseball world for months.

That’s been evident in various projections and team rankings for the 2021 season. We can now add Fangraphs’ postseason odds to that list.

Fangraphs has the Mets winning the NL East, with an 81.2% chance of making the playoffs. That’s good for third-best in MLB and second in the NL behind just the reigning champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

The team with the second-highest odds in the division are the Atlanta Braves at 67.8%.

The Mets’ offseason has been highlighted by the additions of superstar shortstop Francisco Lindor, starter Carlos Carrasco, catcher James McCann, pitchers Joey Lucchesi, Aaron Loup, and Trevor May, and depth in Jonathan Villar, José Martinez, Albert Almora Jr., and Kevin Pillar.

On paper, the Mets are the best team in their division and one of the best teams in the league. Their lineup should be one of the best in baseball, and the same goes for their pitching staff.

Teams must be wary of this new and improved Mets team.
