Former New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings believes Saquon Barkley is the modern-day Barry Sanders in 2019.

Saquon Barkley is the “modern-day Barry Sanders.”

That’s high praise from former New York Giants running back Rashad Jennings when speaking about the reigning NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

He spoke to Elite Sports NY exclusively while appearing at the DraftKings Kickoff Event in Hoboken, NJ to open up Week 1 of the 2019 NFL Season.

“He can do everything,” Jennings proclaimed. “His upscale is out of this world because he hasn’t figured out how to play RB in the NFL. We’ve just seen a raw talent go out there and dominate … Saquon, before it’s all said and done, will go down as the best RB to ever wear a NY on the side of his helmet.”

Jennings knows a thing or two about the position, having spent eight seasons in the NFL and three years with Big Blue.

The Giants selected Barkley with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was also named to the 2018 Pro Bowl and broke the Giants franchise records for most rushing yards and touchdowns by a rookie.

Since that wasn’t enough, he added on several NFL records including most games by a rookie with 100+ yards from scrimmage.

Jennings is also a friend and former teammate of Eli Manning. He wasn’t shy about voicing his opinion on the Manning/ Daniel Jones QB decision.

“You don’t do it until you know Jones is prepared … you’re not gonna bench Eli if he’s playing well which I think he’s gonna do. Barring any injury, I don’t think you play Daniel this year.
