Adam Gase brings offensive acumen to the New York Jets, but wide receiver Quincy Enunwa thinks he has just the right amount of “crazy.”

Calling someone crazy isn’t always a compliment but in this case, Quincy Enunwa is calling Adam Gase crazy for a great reason. The New York Jets head coach is a football guy and that means he operates a bit differently than most.

“He’s definitely crazy,” Enunwa said to WFAN. “He’s a good type of crazy. He’s like a mad genius. He’s out there competing against [defensive coordinator] Gregg Williams and you can kind of tell they’re always going at it. It gets us as players fired up and ready to go as well.”

Gase has a lot to prove before we start calling him a “mad genius” but Enunwa sounds convinced.

Williams and Gase are two eccentric coaches and that might be exactly what the Jets need. Clearly, the mild-mannered approach of Todd Bowles wasn’t working.

The last time the Jets made the playoffs was when Rex Ryan was leading the green and white. Of course, Ryan’s luck would eventually run out, but he brought Gang Green to consecutive AFC Championship appearances. We can all agree that Ryan, although much different than Gase, was crazy as well.

The Jets are gearing up for Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills at MetLife. Gase and company are facing a brutal early-season schedule. After Buffalo, they face the Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and the Patriots again.

They’ll need to tread water before the schedule eases up. Gase’s offensive system must click early and often if they hope to do so. If it does, expect Enunwa to be a major part of the team’s success.
