The potential drama between star running back Le’Veon Bell and head coach Adam Gase adds a new layer to New York Jets drama.

Le’Veon Bell was caught in the fallout following Mike Maccagnan’s unexpected firing. However, the New York Jets star is keeping a level head amidst the drama.

Bell felt the need to take to Twitter to discuss his relationship with head coach Adam Gase. According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Gase didn’t want to sign Bell to the money he received.

“There’s been a BUNCH of false reports and speculation about me in the past about things I’ve said and done, so I’m used to this,” Bell wrote. “I don’t jump to conclusions when I hear or see a story that may affect me. Even if reports are true, that won’t stop me from doing what I came here to do…everyone has a job to do, and I’m gonna do mine whether people ‘like’ me or not. I’m here to win football games.”

Bell is bringing some baggage to New York. That is undeniable. He sat out the 2018 season with the Pittsburgh Steelers after his relationship with that organization fell apart. However, this statement from Bell signals that he has done some maturing since we last saw him play football. He’s taking the high road.

That being said, it’s hard to blame Jets fans for feeling a bit uneasy about this whole situation. The timing of the firing was bizarre, Gase has done nothing to prove he deserves the power he has, and there are still questions on both sides of the line.

Things aren’t perfect for the Jets right now, but they could be much worse.
