New York Jets head coach Adam Gase is firing back after rumors surfaced that there was a rift between him and general manager Mike Maccagnan.

New York Jets head coach Adam Gase has a bit of an edge to him. Known for sometimes bringing a little fire to his press conferences, his Friday press conference didn’t disappoint. Gase angrily responded to rumors that he and Mike Maccagnan were not on the same page during free agency.

“Unless I say it, it’s really irrelevant to me. I don’t know who decides to put that out there, but it kind of pisses me off a little bit,” Gase said on Friday. “Because we have discussions on everything. That’s our job. We have to work through so much stuff, that’s what we got to do. That’s all we’ve done since we’ve been here, since we’ve started we’re constantly in communication.”

Gase does a pretty solid job of shutting this story down for the meantime. He doesn’t paint the picture that he and Maccagnan are singing Kumbaya, but he discusses the open lines of communication between the two.

Furthermore, Gase doesn’t deny that there are differences of opinion within the organization. However, he believes that these different opinions can help in the long run.

“Yeah, if it wasn’t, then what are we doing this for? If everybody just agreed on everything, it’d be boring,” Gase said. “You need to have a little excitement once in a while.”

A little excitement isn’t a bad thing. But hopefully, Gase and Maccagnan can figure out a way to build a contender. Even if the two butt heads at times, the only thing that should matter is the product on the field.
