Mike Maccagnan and the New York Jets are reportedly interested in former Philadephia Eagles center Stefen Wisniewski.

The New York Jets are targeting a potential center.

After turning back Matt Paradis, who eventually signed with the Carolina Panthers, Mike Maccagnan’s depth chart has been left without a legitimate starting center. On Monday, a legitimate name has surfaced.

According to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, former Philadelphia Eagles center Stefen Wisniewski is well placed on the Jets radar.

“Free-agent guard Stefen Wisniewski is visiting the New York Jets today. Source says Vikings reached out about him late last week after it became apparent Nick Easton was likely New Orleans bound. He’s on a fact-finding mission with the Jets and then will see how things shake out.”

Wisniewski, 29 (30 on March 22, 2019), is a Super Bowl champion. He started at left guard for Nick Foles in the game that shocked a nation.

Wisniewski isn’t visiting Florham Park, New Jersey on Monday, as previously reported, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN, but he’s among the candidates needed along the interior of the O-line.

“The Jets do have interest in G/C Stefen Wisniewski, as Chris Tomasson said. He won’t visit today, but he will in the near future. They’re exploring various options at center after missing out on the top free agents.”

Wisniewski turned free agent this offseason three seasons in Philadephia at guard. His Eagles stint could be described as interesting. Though he started at left guard in the big game, he started just 24 games in three seasons (46 games participated).

Previously to Philly, Wisniewski played center for the Jacksonville Jaguars for one season and the Oakland Raiders for four seasons. There’s very little question the man can play both guard and center.

Stefen Wisniewski was drafted in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Penn State. Jonotthan Harrison represents the only active center on the New York Jets roster.
