Kristaps Porzingis has a parting message for New York Knicks fans. Although cryptic, the message he’s sending is clear.

Much has changed within the past week for the New York Knicks and Kristaps Porzingis. Once seen as the savior for a franchise starving for relevance, Porzingis is now vilified as the disloyal punk who wouldn’t buy into the master plan.

While the Knicks are busy letting fans know that Porzingis wouldn’t fully buy in, the Latvian superstar is posting cryptic messages on social media.

No one looks good in the wake of this trade. The organization just dealt away a player with “generational talent” and now that player is playing games on social media.

Porzingis might not be wrong. Knicks fans should have their guard up. The Knicks have had no legitimate playoff success in this millennium—save for one second-round exit in 2013. Asking fans to buy into such a high-risk plan should bring some level of skepticism.

That being said, Porzingis doesn’t need to fan the flames on social media. Rather than posting cryptic messages, he could let his play on the court speak for itself. He is entering an excellent situation with the Dallas Mavericks. He’ll play with fellow European sensation Luka Doncic and he also gets to learn from European legend Dirk Nowitzki.

On the other hand, it has to hurt for Porzingis to see all the vitriol Knicks fans are sending his way. He definitely shares much of the blame for the way things ended, but we may never know exactly what went down behind the scenes. His social media messaging could be his response to the negative response he received from Knicks fans in the wake of the trade.
