Chris Bosh sat courtside for a New York Knicks preseason game at the Garden. Bosh had plenty to say about the Knicks rebuild and his career.
Even though wins on the court may be hard to come by, the New York Knicks have enjoyed an unusual amount of good vibes in the public relations department.
Add Chris Bosh to the list of former and current players, general managers, and coaches as well as other personnel associated with the NBA who are buying stock in the orange and blue.
Via Ian Begley of ESPN, Bosh handed Knicks’ fans more mouth-watering quotes regarding the direction of the franchise and probability of landing a superstar in the near future.
Chris Bosh was talking tonight about how Knicks are in the early stages of a rebuilding process under David Fizdale and the focus is on developing young players. But then he added, interestingly: “I’m sure a superstar, two superstars are going to come here.” Bosh’s full quote: pic.twitter.com/rycAeza2CW

If you have a pulse, seeing Bosh at the game has to warm your heart. Bosh, an 11-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion with the Miami Heat had his career brutally interrupted after being diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism back in 2015. But listen to Bosh, and he has different tune this time around when questioned about a return to basketball and possibility of playing with the Knicks.
Bosh was asked if he would play for the Knicks and he told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News:
“If they make me a deal, yeah.”
Bosh is working his way back to the NBA and he has ties with current Knicks head coach David Fizdale, who was an assistant coach in Miami during the big three era. Bosh also gave high praise to Fiz for helping him develop good on-court and off-the-court habits. According to Bondy, Bosh said:
“He helped me so much as far as dissecting offenses. Film work. And just mentally preparing for every night challenge. We felt a bond just trying to figure out how I can be effective in a free-flowing offense we had. And sometimes it was just having a beer and talking and leaving all the offcourt stuff to the side. But he’s just a tremendous person, tremendous coach. And he knows his basketball.”
Bosh may not be high on the free-agency wish list for most fans, but it’s good to see that his spirits are high. And while some may be tired of the Fizdale hype train, the man’s almost sterling reputation seems to be having a positive effect on a Knicks team who has gone 3-1 in the preseason.
With flashes from young studs like Kevin Knox, Frank Ntilikina, and Allonzo Trier, there’s plenty to be excited about.
October 17th can’t come soon enough.
