New York Giants: Saquon Barkley, OBJ combine for stellar touchdown

The New York Giants needed a spark and Odell Beckham Jr. and Saquon Barkley provided it on Sunday afternoon.

When you’ve just inked a massive contract, you have a job to do. Apparently that means that Odell Beckham Jr. has to do it all for the New York Giants.

And he did just that on Sunday afternoon, tossing a pass to Saquon Barkley for a beautiful touchdown to pull within seven of the Carolina Panthers in the second quarter.

Yes, you read that right. Beckham threw a touchdown pass. That is, before he went back to his roots and caught his own touchdown pass during the Giants’ 33-31 loss on Sunday.

The trick play started with Eli Manning tossing a backwards pass to Beckham, who then heaved a cross-field pass to a wide-open Barkley. Barkley then did his thing and brought it right to the end zone to make it 17-9 before the extra point.

While earlier in the day ESPN released an interview that painted Beckham in a questionable light, he proved that he’s willing to do whatever he needs for this team moving forward. Even if that means slinging the ball downfield, he has shown he can help do that.

That might have been one of the biggest plays of the day, as the 57-yard touchdown brought the Giants back in the game and ultimately showed something entirely different from their usual play-calling arsenal.

These two dynamic young players teamed up to make one stellar play and Giants fans were incredibly impressed. This may not be the “Philly Special” but I think it has the potential to be known as the “Giants Special.” Or something more unique…that will take some time to think of.

Regardless of what it’s called, it’s something pretty special and very well could be a play that will happen again. Maybe against the Dallas Cowboys coming up…hmm?
