New York Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold is reportedly “pissed” about the current holdout via contract negotiations.
The kid isn’t a happy camper while his colleagues work at camp.
According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, New York Jets rookie quarterback Sam Darnold is “pissed” about the current holdout that’s kept him from practicing with his squad. Sunday represented the team’s third official practice of camp and first in full pads.
Of course, Darnold remains a non-participant due to the fact he’s still without a contract.
(Part 4): I'm told that Sam Darnold is pissed about this. (Or as pissed as a really good kid can get).
I don't believe that the Darnolds will allow this holdout to continue much longer.
And good for them.

Darnold, 21, remains unsigned for one specific reason.
Offsets have been that specific reason, the impasse during this drag-em-out contract battle at the NFL big-boy table. Mehta also comments that guarantee voids being discussed are tied to suspensions and fines relating to PEDs and conduct detrimental to the team.
The Jets are one of about four or five teams that tie guaranteed forfeitures to PED/steroid/conduct detrimental to the team fines as a means to void a guarantee. Darron Lee and Avery Williamson’s contract also contains this language, two other Jets who use CAA as their agency employer.
The way Mehta describes the situation now simply revolves around agent Jimmy Sexton and CAA needing to sell a “win” to Darnold after they really lost.
(Part 3): Jimmy Sexton, who represents Avery Williamson, agreed to Jets guarantee-void structure when he brokered a deal for the linebacker this offseason. Darnold's contract contains same language.
This situation is about Sexton & CAA selling a win to Darnold…after they lost

Mehta also believes the Darnolds (family) won’t allow this holdout to continue much longer than it already has.
Listen, is it disappointing that the No. 3 overall pick has yet to take the field? Of course. At the same time, it’s not the end of the world.
As long as this thing gets done prior to Wednesday of this coming week, all should be well. Expect this thing to wrap itself up at some point this coming week.
