While some people are proclaiming Joel Embiid the best player in the Eastern Conference, Spencer Dinwiddie plans to dunk on him.

There’s an open debate in the Eastern Conference as to who is the best player following LeBron James’ departure from Cleveland in favor of the Los Angeles Lakers. Many feel that Joel Embiid fits the bill, including Fox Sports’ talking head, Skip Bayless.

When Bayless took to Twitter to proclaim Embiid the best in the East, Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie let everyone know that he wants to dunk on Embiid now.

Much like Embiid, Dinwiddie was a finalist for an NBA award this year. The Brooklyn Net fell short of the Most Improved Player award, while Embiid was edged out by Rudy Gobert for the Defensive Player of the Year.

But Embiid’s defensive prowess doesn’t scare Dinwiddie in the slightest. The 25-year-old guard has improved year-to-year in each of his four seasons. Kenny Atkinson and the Brooklyn Nets are hoping that trend continues next season.

Embiid is no stranger to talking trash on social media and he’s been known to hold a grudge. If he doesn’t respond to Dinwiddie in the near future, it’s entirely possible that he’s just waiting for the perfect time to clap back.

This isn’t Dinwiddie’s first tangle with Embiid. Earlier this year, Embiid committed a flagrant foul against the Nets guard.

Maybe Dinwiddie was thinking of this play when he sent that tweet or maybe he was having a little fun with Philadelphia’s big man. Either way, their first encounter in the lane should be exciting.
