New York Giants backup quarterback Davis Webb has only positive things to say about rookie running back Saquon Barkley.

On Tuesday afternoon, Jordan Lauterbach of Newsday was able to catch up with New York Giants quarterback Davis Webb. Speaking on new Giants rookie running back Saquon Barkley, Webb had some choice words to describe him.

“He’s a freak. He’s a heck of an athlete,” Webb said at the Big Daddy Youth Football Camp at New Hyde Park High School in New York. “The one thing about Saquon — and I’ve only known him for a few months now — is that he’s very nutritious. You can see in the way he eats breakfast. He’s one of the first ones in there.”

Since Webb was drafted by the Giants in 2017 and Barkley drafted this past April, many fans believe they’ll be two cornerstones to Big Blue’s future. With Webb going into his second year in the NFL, he knows all about what Barkley is experiencing right now as a rookie in the NFL. And by the looks of how the former Penn State running back is handling it on the field and off, Webb is impressed to say the least.

Webb has acknowledged how quickly Barkley has gotten acclimated to this new Giants offense. “Saquon has done a very good job picking [this system] up,” Webb told Lauterbach. “He’s playing very, very fast. It’s fun to watch him catch a football because he looks like a receiver, but he’s built like a running back that can run the ball a lot of times in a game.”

For numerous reasons, Saquon is a big hit with just about everyone. Fans, players, and coaches have nothing but great things to say about the young player. Having thrown out the first pitch for the Yankees as well as appearing at Landon Collins‘ Celebrity Softball Game, Barkley has made himself comfortable within the Giants’ fold. People in and out of the organization all hope that he’ll be there for a long time as well.
