Has the drama started already for Big Blue? Damon Harrison has already called out his fellow New York Giants teammate Saquon Barkley and he didn’t keep quiet.

Let’s call this one some friendly competition between the New York Giants rookie and veteran.

When Giants veteran Damon “Snacks” Harrison called out the rookie Saquon Barkley on Tuesday, many thought the rookie would simply stay quiet. Instead, he decided to take the challenge and have himself a laugh.

For those who missed it, Harrison told reporters per NJ.com’s Ryan Dunleavy that he couldn’t wait to “hit his ass and see what he’s made of.”

Naturally, no tackles would be seen during these mini-camps but clearly Harrison is ready to see Barkley when it’s time for training camp come July.

So what does Barkley say about this? Well, he’s got to laugh at the veteran and his threat.

“I’m just happy that we’re on the same team, and he only gets to hit me maybe once or twice a year, rather than facing him for a whole game,” Barkley said per Matt Lombardo of NJ.com.

So basically the rookie turned the entire friendly competition around and made it into a compliment for his more experienced teammate. Well, that’s a veteran move from the rookie running back.

“He is one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL, and I have a lot of respect for how he carries himself, how he prepares,” Barkley told reporters per Lombardo. “I’m going to run away from that challenge, and just say that I’m happy he’s on my team.”

Smooth move there, Barkley. He’s definitely ready for the Big Apple and facing the media in both wins and losses.

While everyone is impressed by his explosiveness on the field, Barkley has impressed right here by maintaining his composure and coming into mini-camp with the right attitude.
