What is really going on with the New York Jets as they plan for the 2018 NFL Draft? We sift through the rumors and tell you what’s real.

The NFL Draft can be one of the most exciting times of the calendar for fans. It’s understandable. There’s hope in the air, everyone is tied for first place, and a franchise’s destiny can be changed for the better.

But as we get closer to April 26, it’s hard to decipher what is true and what is baloney.

The most obvious case among New York Jets fans is the Baker Mayfield question.

Everyone this side of the Mississippi river is suggesting the Jets plus Mayfield is a match made in heaven. Everyone’s “sources” are telling them the Jets are in love with Mayfield. Maybe that’s true, but why would the Jets be so open about it?

Since they only traded up to No. 3 in the 2018 NFL Draft, they left a window open for someone else to take the player they covet.

Let’s just say some other team likes Mayfield (very possible). If they heard the Jets loved Mayfield, they could trade up to No. 1 or No. 2 with the Cleveland Browns or New York Giants, blocking the Jets from their top choice.

While I love Mayfield and think he’s the perfect pick, I’m starting to wonder if this is a ginormous smokescreen for another quarterback. One that many are saying is last in the Jets pecking order, which means by reverse psychology, he might actually be their No. 1 option. I’m talking about Josh Rosen. Mind blown, right?

Bleacher Report’s NFL Draft Insider Connor Rogers is a good buddy of mine and this makes sense. But above that, I’m starting to buy more and more into Rosen and the Jets. I just can’t wrap my mind around the Jets proclaiming to the free world their admiration for a quarterback they aren’t even guaranteed in Mayfield.

Here’s a random NFL draft nugget to chew on: This team is going to trade back later to recoup picks. That’s a near Joe Namath guarantee.

Since you’re thinking warm and tingly thoughts, here’s a beautiful picture of 1 Jets Drive. This should be your happy place when negative thoughts creep into your head.

People call me Boy Green for my unwavering dedication to all things New York Jets. I work at The Score 1260 in Syracuse and I'm extremely passionate about sports. I aspire to continue my rise through the business and hopefully I'll end up working for the New York Jets in some capacity.
