New York Daily News reporter Manish Mehta was ripped on WFAN by the mother of former New York Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson.
No matter what we do, our moms always have our backs. Former New York Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson‘s mom had her son’s back as she defended him on the radio on Friday.
Wilkerson’s mom Ka’idah called into WFAN’s “Boomer and Gio” show on Friday to defend her son after comments made by New York Daily News reporter Manish Mehta. Mehta was on the show to talk about Wilkerson after tweeting Thursday night that Wilkerson is getting bad advice and shouldn’t be around alcohol.
“Wilkerson is getting some terrible advice,” Mehta tweeted. “The last place he should be near given his issues with alcohol is Bourbon Street/French Quarter. Who is advising this guy?”

“To me, that’s crossing a line and you put him out there basically calling him an alcoholic,” Boomer Esiason told Mehta on the show, per Dan Gartland of Sports Illustrated.
Mehta defended the tweet by saying that he wasn’t calling Wilkerson an alcoholic.
“He has had issues with alcohol and drinking in the past,” he said, per WFAN. “That doesn’t necessarily mean you’re an alcoholic.It’s not personal. I just know how people in the building, people close to him in his life feel about him.”
After Manish’s interview was over Ka’idah called into the show to defend Muhammad and ripped Mehta.
“Where’s your proof, Manish, that Muhammad is an alcoholic?” she said. “Like, really. You always say all these things. I can’t tell you, Boomer, how I’m just livid. I’m just livid with him. Like, why do you keep saying these things about my son?”
She added, “He goes out just like everybody else. Yes, he’s been late. … He’s never had a DWI. He’s never admitted to being an alcoholic. Do I think he has a problem with alcohol? No, I don’t.He (Mehta) always has something negative to say about Muhammad. You called him a fat slob. You say he’s out of shape. You said all these things. … What’s your problem with Muhammad?”
Ka’idah even threatened Mehta saying that she thinks that they should contact their attorneys about taking legal action.
Wilkerson is currently a free agent after being released by the Jets. He visited with the Green Bay Packers on Thursday and will visit with the New Orleans Saints and the Kansas City Chiefs.
