Former New York Jets star Darrelle Revis just got fired while another Gang Green legend, Nick Mangold, discusses running for Congress.
When you see Darrelle Revis and Nick Mangold in the same sentence, be honest with me, do you make sure you aren’t reading an article from five years ago?
I don’t blame you. Mangold and Revis haven’t been on the New York Jets in a hot minute, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to forget about this lovely dynamic duo.
Let’s get to the bad news first. Darrelle Revis has been fired from the Kansas City Chiefs.

Most of the reactions I saw on social media were along the lines of, ‘Revis is still playing in the league?’
That obviously speaks to how poor Revis has played and how much of a non-factor he’s been in the NFL since being released by the Jets in 2016.
While Revis will go down as one of the best defenders in Jets history, he won’t be remembered for those accomplishments for a long time. That’s because there is a poor taste in Jets fans mouths ever since his reunion tour back in 2015.
The initial year appeared great, at first. The Jets were 10-5 and in a win-and-you’re-in scenario to end their playoff drought, but we all know what happened with Ryan Fitzpatrick in the regular season finale. However, few remember how bad Revis was at the end when facing DeAndre Hopkins (Week 11) and the Buffalo Bills (Week 17).
- Hopkins 2015, Week 11 vs Revis: five receptions for 118 yards and two touchdowns
- Watkins 2015, Week 17 vs Revis: 11 receptions for 136 yards
Good riddance, leave the NFL, so we can get all nostalgic in 10 years and hopefully forget about all the highway robbery Revis got away with at the end of his NFL career.

There were some reports percolating that perhaps one of the best centers in franchise history could be running for office. But Nick Mangold squashed that with his Twitter post above. While I appreciate the clarity, it is somewhat disappointing that Mangold won’t be officially representing Jets Nation at the highest level possible.
